Ibuyeco claims couples are reluctant to add new partners to car insurance policies
According to car insurance provider ibuyeco, couples in new relationships would sooner give their new partner a key to their home than the keys to their car.
The company’s survey, which involved 2,126 adult respondents, found that only 36% of couples would add a new partner to their car insurance policies within the first year of being together. However, 61% said they would be prepared to give their partner a key to their home within the same timeframe.
Furthermore, its research showed that twice as many people would introduce their partner to their prospective in-laws within the first year as the number that would add them to their car insurance policy.
Drivers in Wales were the most likely to add their partner on their car insurance policy, while those in eastern and southern England were the most reluctant to do so.
Senior marketing manager at ibuyeco, Lucy Bailey, said: “It is interesting to see how guarded Brits are about sharing their cars; even with their loved-ones. As a nation we love our cars, so perhaps it’s not surprising that couples don’t surrender them to the conjugal relationship until much later down the line.”
