Car insurance for musicians is not as expensive as you might think according to Swiftcover.com

Following the launch of car insurer Swiftcover.com’s advertising campaign featuring punk icon Iggy Pop, the company has released a list of premiums for cars driven by some of the words most well know musicians.
Getting car insurance if you’re a musician can be difficult and is often expensive but somewhat surprisingly, the figures released by Swiftcover are not out of this world, unless you want to insure a £500,000 Ferrari.
Example includes:
Dave Grohl, who could insure his ride for £250 per year, although he does opt to drive a Smart Car.
Lilly Allen, who would be looking at £600 per year for her Mini Cooper including women’s driver discount.
Noel Gallagher, who would get fully comprehensive on his 1978 Rolls Royce for £800. Although this wouldn’t cover damage from intentionally driving into swimming pools.
Unfortunately due to a chequered history of issues with drugs and alcohol and the odd ‘collision’ with the paparazzi Britney Spears would be looking at £4000 to insure Mercedes CLK. Probably the stand out premium quoted though is that to insure Jay Kay’s, lead singer of Jamiroquai, Enzo Ferrari. The rare and expensive motor would cost him £35,000 to insure with Swiftcover. Ouch! He’ll be hoping the upcoming album sells well.
Tina Shortle, marketing director for swiftcover.com, says: “These quotes are just for fun, but our research shows that you don’t need to be a platinum selling rock god to be able to afford to get swiftcovered. Even Madonna, Lilly Allen and Noel Gallagher could probably save on their car insurance with swiftcover.com, and of course we now insure less well-known musicians!”
This is an interesting move by Swiftcover.com who in fact didn’t offer car insurance to musicians until coming under pressure to do so following the launch of the Iggy Pop advertising campaign.

What I’m thinking is that Swiftcover should be banned. They’re not an insurer, they’re a liability. When they get a decent claims team they might be fairly decent themselves. Pay little get little.
